About Us
House of Turquoise was born from a love that refused to fade. Love for Colour, Texture, and the kind of Craft that carries Stories in every Thread.
For Founder Manali Patel, Inspiration came from everywhere and every time: from the Vibrant Land of Gujarat, from the Vintage Textiles she grew up around to watching Skilled Hands create Magic.
She started Designing Clothes as a Teenager. Just Curiosity at the time, but it planted something Permanent.
As she learned more about Embroidery, Fabrics, and Traditional Craft Techniques, she saw something clearly: if nobody preserves these Arts, we will lose them Forever. And that realization eventually became House of Turquoise.
Reimagining Traditions
At House of Turquoise, Materials are chosen for the Histories they carry, not just their Visual appeal. Brass Embellishment, for instance, has been part of Indian Ceremonial Textiles since the 16th century, particularly across Gujarat and Rajasthan, where Hand-cut Metal Elements were stitched onto Festive Garments. Today, the brand works with nearly 40–50 unique Brass Sequin Shapes, many developed Exclusively for House of Turquoise, continuing this Tradition in a Contemporary Form.
The Collections also revive Mashru, a fabric that dates back to the Mughal era (circa 1600s). Originally Woven as a Silk-and-Cotton blend to honour Religious customs while retaining richness, Mashru nearly vanished with the rise of Power Looms in the mid-20th century. Through Modern Silhouettes and Applications, House of Turquoise brings this Fabric back into Everyday Relevance.
Another Textile Central to the Brand is 22 Panna, a Handwoven fabric widely used before India’s Mechanised Textile Boom of the 1950s and 60s. Known for its Width and Durability, it was once part of Daily life and is now Rarely produced.
The Brand continues to Reintroduce it across Categories, allowing it to evolve while preserving its Essence.
These are paired with Mul Cotton, Rooted in India’s Hand-Spun Textile Legacy, valued for its Softness and Breathability. German silver, a Metal Alloy developed in 19th-century Europe and later Adopted by Indian Jewellery makers, appears for its Strength and Ornate Character.
Even the smallest details carry intention—such as the Czech glass Beads used in the Bucket Potli, Sourced from a Region with documented Glassmaking Traditions dating back to the 13th Century, Globally recognised by the 1800s.
The Making
Every House of Turquoise piece passes through Eight to Ten different hands before it reaches its Final Form. Each stage is carefully Supervised, Refined, Inspected, and Perfected. The process prioritises Patience over Speed and Respect over Scale, Respect for the Material, for the History it carries, and for the Artisans who continue these Traditions today.
The Artisans Behind the Craft
House of Turquoise did not begin as an All-Women Workspace by Design. It became one Organically. It started with two Women working alongside the Founder, Rooted in Skills Indian Women have carried for Generations. Historically, Embroidery and Textile work lived within Homes, passed down quietly and rarely recognised as Formal Labour. The Brand simply gave this Inherited Knowledge a Visible, Valued Space.
As the Brand grew, more Women joined: Tailors, Embroiderers, students, and First-time Earners. The Working culture evolved to reflect real life: Flexible, Community-driven, and Grounded in Trust.Â
Today, the Team Spans generations and Geographies. There are Women who Travel from villages 45 kilometres away, College students balance education with Financial Independence, and Young Artisans from surrounding Rural Communities bring fresh Energy to Age-Old Techniques.
Together, they form more than a Workforce. They represent Continuity, Resilience, and Dignity in making.
